Position Overview
The Transport Cost Analyst is responsible for transportation cost planning, analysis, control, and optimization across the logistics network. This role supports business growth by ensuring cost transparency, improving operational efficiency, monitoring budget performance, and identifying opportunities for continuous cost reduction while maintaining service quality standards.
The position will work closely with transportation operations, carrier management, finance, and planning teams to drive data-based decision-making and cost improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Budget Planning & Cost Management
- Develop annual and quarterly transportation cost budgets in alignment with business objectives and operational forecasts.
- Allocate budget targets across transportation functions, including carrier transportation costs and company-owned fleet operating expenses.
- Monitor budget utilization and analyze variances between planned and actual expenditures.
- Prepare regular budget performance reports and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
Cost Analysis & Reporting
- Review, verify, and analyze transportation-related expenses, including carrier invoices and fleet operating costs such as fuel, maintenance, insurance, tolls, and other transportation expenses.
- Ensure transportation cost payments are accurate, compliant, and properly documented.
- Develop and maintain cost analysis models to evaluate transportation costs by route, transportation mode, carrier, vehicle type, and operational category.
- Monitor cost trends and identify key drivers impacting transportation expenses.
Cost Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with transportation operations, carrier management, and planning teams to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Evaluate opportunities to improve carrier pricing structures, optimize transportation routes, enhance vehicle utilization, and reduce fuel consumption.
- Track and measure the effectiveness of cost reduction initiatives and quantify realized savings.
- Support network efficiency projects focused on balancing service performance and cost control.
Cost Control & Governance
- Establish and maintain transportation cost control mechanisms and monitoring processes.
- Review compliance with cost management policies and identify potential risks, inefficiencies, or unauthorized expenditures.
- Benchmark transportation costs against industry standards and market trends.
- Provide recommendations to support long-term transportation cost competitiveness and operational excellence.
Carrier Settlement & Payment Administration
- Manage transportation settlement processes in accordance with carrier service agreements.
- Review and validate carrier invoices and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate billing, invoice collection, payment requests, and settlement reconciliation.
- Work closely with Finance and Procurement teams to ensure timely and accurate payment processing.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience
- Experience in cost analysis, financial planning, budgeting, business analytics, logistics operations, or transportation management.
- Experience within logistics, transportation, courier, parcel delivery, supply chain, or e-commerce industries is preferred.
- Recent graduates with strong analytical capabilities and relevant internship experience may also be considered.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex operational and financial data.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Strong financial modeling, reporting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial and operational analysis.

Language Requirements
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Mandarin Chinese proficiency is highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.
