Are you a sports coach, PE graduate, sport/PE student or athlete looking for flexible work with children in Cardiff schools?
PE Direct is recruiting for PE Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across Cardiff, supporting PE lessons and providing general classroom cover from September 2026.
This role is ideal for university students, recent graduates and sports professionals who have experience working with children and want paid school-based PE/sport work.
Due to demand from our partner secondary schools, we are particularly keen to hear from male sports coaches, PE graduates, sports students and athletes. Many schools require male PE cover staff to support boys’ PE lessons, supervise boys’ changing rooms and meet safeguarding, privacy and welfare requirements during practical PE lessons.
We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates. Where a school requests a male PE Cover Supervisor for a particular assignment, placements will only be made where this is lawful and in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
Your role as a PE Cover Supervisor:
- Lead and supervise PE lessons and sports activities
- Working with pupils across the secondary age range (11–16 years old)
- Encourage engagement, teamwork and positive behaviour
- Manage classrooms and deliver pre-set lesson plans
- Provide general cover when required
What we are looking for:
- Sports students, sports graduates, active athletes or experienced coaches
- Candidates with experience working with children (schools, coaching, camps, clubs – within the last 3 years)
- Confident leaders who can manage groups independently
- Enthusiastic, energetic and reliable individuals
- Access to transport for travel to schools in Cardiff
